At Metals Technology we
understand that our staff are our most important asset.
Our staff are all hand picked
for their wide-ranging experience. Some are outlined below:
Mr.
Gary Tinker (Director)
Gary graduated with a BSc (Hons)
in Metallurgy from Sheffield University. Initially Gary worked as a chemist at
Hoyle Street laboratories, before transferring to the Swinden Technology Centre
in Rotherham as a metallurgist in the Production Metallurgy Department. Key
research to which Gary contributed included 'development of sampling methods for
analysis of Hydrogen in steels’. He also worked for 6 years as a foundry
metallurgist in both iron and steel foundries. In 1983, Gary established The
Metals Technology Company to give technical advice to small manufacturers.
Since then, Gary has steered Metals Technology through to its current strength.
Mr.
Ron White (Technical/Quality Director)
Ron holds an HNC in Metallurgy,
which is supplemented by his vast and varied experience of a diverse range of
materials from Tools steels through to Ferro alloys, Nickel base alloys,
engineering steels and stainless steels. Prior to joining Metals Technology,
Ron was Group Quality Manager for the Neepsend Group, which included approx. 30
companies carrying prestige accreditations such as MOD, Rolls Royce, CAA etc.
The group included three foundries and this led to Ron being heavily involved in
the development projects such as; materials for use in the Rolls Royce RB211 jet
engine and the first ever ESR melting of Tool steels. He joined Metals
Technology as Quality Director/Metallurgist, taking responsibility for the UKAS
Quality system and is putting his experience to good use by handling a
combination of metallurgical and chemical analysis work.
Mr.
Mark Collier (Laboratory Manager)
Mark joined Metals Technology in
1987 straight from school. He initially completed a four year long
Apprenticeship where he trained in every aspect of the Metals Technology testing
facility. His broad experience made him the obvious choice as laboratory
manager. His duties include the day-to-day running of the testing facilities
and the appointment and training of new staff.
Other Senior Staff:
Mr. Mel Brammer (Senior Chemist)
Mr. Colin Barnfield (Senior
Technician)
Mr. Clifton Wray (Machine Shop
Manager)
Mr. Bryan Cox (Senior Workshop
Technician)
Miss. Sarah Kendall (Office
Manager)
This is just a brief outline of
the technical experience available within Metals Technology
and doesn’t include the various support staff without whom the company would not
function in the efficient manner to which it strives.
